The Arizona Diamondbacks have reached an agreement with Paul Goldschmidt on a five-year, $32 million contract, according to sources.

The extension includes a club option of $14.5 million in 2018.

Goldschmidt batted .286 with 20 home runs, 82 RBIs and a .359 on-base percentage in 145 games last season.

The San Francisco Giants have signed Buster Posey to a nine-year, $167 million contract, according to multiple reports.

The deal, which is the longest in franchise history, runs through the 2021 season with a team option for 2022.

There is also a full no-trade clause for the duration of the contract.

The Detroit Tigers have reached an agreement on a new deal with Justin Verlander that could exceed $202 million, according to sources.

The deal would make Verlander the highest-paid pitcher in the game.

The base is for seven years and is worth $180 million. A vesting option for an eighth year could push the deal to $202 million.

The Giants extended the contracts of GM Brian Sabean and manager Bruce Bochy through the 2016 season Thursday night, bringing stability to a franchise that has counted on continuity during its recent success of winning the World Series twice in the last three years.

Both had previous deals set to expire after this summer.

Pitcher J.A. Happ and the Blue Jays have agreed to a $9.1M, two-year contract that adds an additional $5.4M and one season to the deal he reached in January, according to an ESPN.com report Wednesday.

Happ's salary remains $3.7M for this year, and the new deal adds a $5.2M salary for 2014 and a $6.7M team option for 2015 with a $200,000 buyout.

The Cardinals have agreed with pitcher Adam Wainwright on a five-year contract extension worth $97.5M, according to multiple reports.

Wainwright was set to become a free agent after this season when he will make $12M under a team option. The new deal will begin in 2014, according to multiple media outlets.

Outfielder Carlos Gomez and the Brewers have agreed to a $28.3M, four-year deal, according to an ESPN.com report on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old outfielder would have been eligible for free agency after this season. 

The White Sox and left-handed pitcher Chris Sale have agreed on a five-year contract extension worth $32.5M with two options years that could bring the deal up to $60M, the team announced on Thursday.

Sale will receive $32.5M guaranteed over the first five years of the deal with club options for the next two years.
